See what we started from and and how far we were able to get in the first 5 months of the project
Look at these carburetors! We have never seen anything this bad before, is it possible to get they to not only work, but to perform as new?
We remove the rusted our rim and spokes, turn back a few decades of neglect and lace up a new rim with stainless steel spokes
We were missing a critical chassis part, the replacement was in terrible shape. We turned to DEOX-C to see if we can get it looking new again.
We sorted the original electrical harness, added Lakeland CDI and Rectifier / Regulator, Rebuilt the carbs and fitted the Mazzoli built Engine. Will this beast actually start???
The taillight, mounting bracket, and trim were all missing. We were able to restore this assembly with a combination of NOS, original but badly worn parts and an aftermarket light. See how it went together.
The rear turn signal ears were cut off by the previous owner. We wanted a low profile but safe alternative. The Motogadget mo.blaze pin turn signals fit the bill. We just needed to fabricate a bracket that would hide out of the way nicely.
A quick overview of the restoration project and the added treat of the first startup with the Higgspeed expansion chambers installed. From scrap heap to a runner in just under 9 months. We have a little more to do before the road test, and can't wait to see how she rides.
We were wondering if the carbs were so badly packed with dirt that we would need to run them through an ultrasonic cleaner. Harbor Freight had one in stock and under $100 - We give it a go and see what it removed from the hidden passages
It's one thing to clean up the carbs, but did it make a difference? We have footage taken a few months before the cleaning and footage right after refitting the carbs and there may be a difference, you decide!!!
